Biography

Peruvian Bass-Baritone Eduardo Castro came to the United States in 1991. His performances include leading roles such as Colline and Shaunard in La Boheme, Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Don Alfonso in Cosi fan Tutte, Dr.Dulcamara in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore, Frank in the productions of Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss, Cappellio in Bellini’s I Capuleti e I Montecchi.

His powerful deep voice and clear diction has allowed him to sing roles such as Ferrando in Il Trovatore and Count Rodolfo in La Sonnambula. Recently, has also been involved with a production of El Barberillo de Lavapies, singing the role of Don Juan and Don Pedro on the same night. Some of the organizations he has performed for include: The George Mason University Opera, the Bethesda Presbyterian Church Opera, the Maryland Opera Society, The Catholic University of America,GALA Hispanic Theatre, The In series Company Belcantanti Opera Company, Opera Belcanto, and Zarzuela Disi Company.

He is a student of Italian Tenor Gianni Bavaglio who teaches voice at the conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome. This past summer 2006 He sang the roles of Banco in Verdi’s Macbeth, and Montano and Lodovico in Verdi’s Otello with the Amici Opera Company of Philadelphia. In 2007 he sang the role of Lesbo with the Virginia opera, in the production of Handel's Agrippina.
